Sharjah Sustainable City is a residential masterplan in Sharjah organised around neighbourhoods, community facilities, landscape and multimodal movement routes.
LIMAH developed the exterior Wayfinding & Navigation strategy for the masterplan, including street naming, addressing and physical information across vehicular, pedestrian, cycling, jogging and buggy routes. The work also considered the relationship between the Green Spine and residential and community destinations.
The process began with a review of the masterplan to understand spatial relationships, access points and movement patterns. The strategy considered both neighbourhood-level orientation and more local street-level navigation.
Residents, visitors and service users were treated as different user groups with varying familiarity with the site. This informed the hierarchy and placement of information across the community.
Street naming formed a central part of the navigation framework. District references were combined with a numerical street sequence to create a repeatable structure across the site.
A unified addressing system was also developed for villas, with numbering progressing from a defined baseline. These systems provide the underlying spatial logic for maps, identification and physical signage.

LIMAH mapped pedestrian, cyclist, jogger, vehicle and buggy journeys to determine where information would be required and how its scale and content should change between movement types.
This analysis informed the hierarchy of Wayfinding & Navigation elements across the development, from larger arrival and road information to more localised neighbourhood and pedestrian communication.
