Quattro Del Mar

Ras Al Khaimah, UAE

Quattro Del Mar is a waterfront residential development in Ras Al Khaimah, formed around four interconnected towers and a landscape shaped by water, light and coastal views.

LIMAH’s role was to develop a Wayfinding & Navigation strategy that could work across the development’s contrasting interior and exterior environments. The challenge was not simply to direct people from one destination to another. It was to establish a clear navigational logic across buildings, residences, parking and shared spaces, while allowing the architecture and landscape to remain visually dominant.

The resulting system combines information hierarchy, naming and numbering, decision-point planning and carefully integrated physical signage. A restrained palette of light bronze and deep ocean blue draws from the surrounding architecture and coastal setting, giving the system its own clarity without separating it from the character of the place.

‍

STRATEGIC DRIVERS

  • Establish a clear navigation structure across the development’s interior and exterior environments.
  • Organise information around the decisions residents and visitors need to make as they move through the site.
  • Create consistent naming, numbering and identification systems across buildings, residences, levels and parking.
  • Develop a design language that integrates with the architecture while remaining legible and recognisable.
  • Establish a system capable of extending into future phases without changing its underlying navigational logic.

EXPERIENCE STRATEGY AND DESIGN

READING THE SITE BEFORE DESIGNING THE SIGNS

The strategy began with movement rather than objects.

LIMAH analysed the development plans to understand how different users would approach, enter and move through Quattro Del Mar. Primary and secondary routes were mapped, destinations were organised and the decision points where people would need information were identified.

This established the hierarchy behind the system: what people need to know, when they need to know it and how information should progress as they move from the wider development towards an individual building, level or residence.

Physical signage could then be designed around that logic, rather than used to compensate for it.

‍

BUILT INTO THE CHARACTER OF THE PLACE

Quattro Del Mar moves between refined interior spaces and a brighter coastal landscape. The navigation system needed to remain coherent across both without introducing a competing visual language.

Light bronze and deep ocean blue were selected to relate to the material and tonal character of the development. Sign forms, graphics and placement were considered in relation to their architectural setting so that information remains visible when needed while becoming part of the wider environment.

The intention was restraint: enough presence to make the system easy to recognise, without allowing navigation infrastructure to dominate the spaces it serves.

‍

SYSTEMS THAT SUPPORT DAILY LIFE

The strategic framework established the core systems that shape navigation at Quattro Del Mar day to day. Building naming and numbering allows users to identify each tower in context and before entry. Apartment and townhouse numbers follow a consistent, progressive logic that simplifies wayfinding at scale. Level identification strengthens orientation across vertical circulation, and parking zones are organised through structured numbering and colour-coding by building to support intuitive recall and ease of movement across the island setting.

FEATURE MOMENT

PROJECT RECOGNITION

Quattro Del Mar was recognised as Mixed-Use Project of the Year at the Pillars of Real Estate Awards 2023 and Best Residential Project at the Design Middle East Awards 2023.

The recognition reflects the wider quality and ambition of the development. Within that broader project, LIMAH’s Wayfinding & Navigation work was designed to support the architectural clarity of Quattro Del Mar through a coherent system of information, identification, numbering and physical signage.

A consistent visual and navigational language connects exterior and interior environments, helping residents and visitors understand the development while allowing its architecture, landscape and coastal character to remain dominant.

For residents, navigation is not an occasional interaction. It becomes part of returning home, receiving visitors, finding a parked car and moving between private and shared spaces. At Quattro Del Mar, LIMAH designed the system around those repeated journeys. From building identification to apartment numbers, levels and parking zones, each layer has a specific role within the wider navigation logic.

The aim is simple: a place that communicates clearly enough that finding your way feels like a natural part of experiencing it.
